Members pay a yearly fee of $75 which covers administrative costs of the program. Members can sign up for as many SAGE courses or events as they would like for a flat fee of $25 per course, plus materials and costs.

Continuing Education Mission Statement

To provide a variety of avocational and vocational education courses that educate, entertain and enrich the diverse interest and needs of our community. Texarkana College Continuing Education endeavors to make high quality continuing education opportunities regularly available, as needs dictate, to residents of this area.

Registration

Walk-in and online registration for CBE classes begins Monday, August 1. Walk-in registration takes place at the Community Business Education Center in the Texarkana College Administration Building.

You are urged to register as soon as possible for any course you wish to take. Some courses fill up quickly or have limited space available. Unless otherwise stated, registration is continuous until a class begins or is full. Registration and payment of tuition are required prior to beginning of class. Payment is due at time of registration. If payment is not made the day of registration, student will be dropped from the class. We prefer that you register one week in advance to ensure the class makes.

Entrance Requirements

Community Business Education classes are offered on a non-credit basis. Generally, there are no entrance requirements. Course descriptions will include prerequisite for enrollment, if any. Unless otherwise stated in the course description, the minimum age for most classes is 16 years.

Senior Discounts

Some of the classes listed offer a discount for senior citizens of 15% (ages 60 or over). Please contact our office for more information. Excludes CPR, First Aid ACLS.

Books Supplies

Although many courses do not require a text, some specialized courses require text and other supplies. Unless otherwise noted, the text fee is included in the course tuition. Texts will be distributed to students the first class meeting.

Cancellations

Each course requires a minimum number of students before it can be held. As a general rule, the final decision whether to run a course or cancel it is made by noon of the scheduled starting date. If the college cancels a course for any reason, every effort is made to notify those registered. Refunds will be processed within two weeks. Texarkana College reserves the right to substitute instructors, reschedule classrooms or adjust pricing if necessary. Inclement weather cancellations will not be made up.

There is a 100% refund upon request prior to the first class meeting.

Trade unions plot �hurricane� protest

THREE of the country�s major labour federations are threatening a hurricane of a protest on August 4th against bad governance and the retrenchment of workers. �Bret is joke, we will take this country by storm. Its time to shake up this blasted place and let those who took the job to govern, govern properly.

They are not doing that,� said Ancel Roget, President General of the Joint Trade Union Movement (JTUM) yesterday during a news conference at The Dial in Arima.

Roget said that during Labour Day celebrations in Fyzabad the trade unions had committed themselves to the August 4 protest and were now going through the country to sensitise workers about the issues that have inspired the protest. Roget said they were �Not just labour issues, but people issues, man in the street issues, man on the ground issues which generally affect Trinidad and Tobago.� He said Tobago was not being left out and last Friday the unions had staged a �good and powerful� meeting in Tobago and the labour federations were determined to go all over the country to make workers aware of the planned protest on August 4. �We are about rescuing the country, rescuing citizens and workers generally that is why we are here this morning.

The people of Arima are no different from the people in Port of Spain, and San Fernando and Sangre Grande, Mayaro and throughout the country because anywhere you go the people are disenchanted, dissatisfied and they are suffering and we believe that the only true body that can speak truly on behalf of the people and can bring some measure of relief.� In fact, Roget said that it was probably because the trade unions had not been active enough that there had been such a display of bad governance manifested in disrespect for workers and the trade union movement. In response to a question, Roget said the �tripartite conversation� has failed.

�Are they committed to tripartism and the body that is responsible for that failed to excite and to ignite the type of discussion to really get things going. You would imagine that in this period more than any other period that is required but the Government failed.

As a matter of fact while we were discussing, Government and employers were sending workers home.

�You would recall the Tourism Development Corporation (TDC) workers among others, so how could we be in discussion discussing how should we share the burden of adjustment and at the same time the Government, who is one of the tripartite partners in that arrangement, they are sending workers home. And that is wrong and we said that we will withdraw ourself until you halt that and then we will come back to the table because we are all equals.� Among other things, the August 4th protest will demand an end to mass retrenchment; sustainable jobs; the settlement of outstanding negotiations; increased minimum wage; timely payment of pension and gratuity to Police; teachers; public sector workers; the end to contract labour and support for local farmers.

ETS Customer Service Representatives are not able to give personal information to anyone other than the test taker, including relatives or friends. Privacy laws require that requests to update or release information of a PERSONAL nature (such as identification, address, designated institutions, and account history) come directly from the test taker only.

Test Question Inquiries

If you think there is an error in a test question that affects your response, tell the test supervisor as soon as you finish the test, and immediately write to:

State the following in your letter:

  • name and address of the test center
  • test date and name of the test
  • number and content of the question
  • section in which the question appeared (if it was in the General Test)

Allow 10 business days for a response.

Test Center Complaints

If you have a complaint about a test center, please send a communication to ETS. In your communication, provide a detailed description of the complaint, including the name and address of the test center, and the test date. The communication should be received at ETS no later than seven days after your test date. Allow two to three weeks for a response. If you communicate your complaint only to the test center staff, you will not receive a response from ETS.

Oceanic Air flight 815 tore apart in mid-air and crashed on a Pacific island, leaving 48 passengers alive and stranded on a remote island in the South Pacific. The survivors include a diverse group of people from different walks of life — a doctor, an escaped fugitive, a con man, an Iraqi interrogator, a married Korean couple and a man formerly confined to a wheelchair who is now inexplicably healed. As the castaways attempt to get home, flashbacks (and forwards) illuminate their troubled lives before and after the crash, as the island they find themselves stranded on begins to slowly reveal its mysterious nature. Faith, reason, destiny and free will all clash as the island offers opportunities for both corruption and redemption. but as to its true purpose? That’s the greatest mystery of all.

The survivors discovered that the island holds many secrets, including a mysterious smoke monster, polar bears, housing and hatches with electricity and hot cold running water, a group of island residents known as “The Others,” and a mysterious man named Jacob. They’ve found signs of those who came to the island before them, including a 19th century sailing ship called The Black Rock, a downed Beechcraft plane from a failed drug run, the remains of an ancient, four-toed statue, as well as bunkers belonging to the Dharma Initiative — a group of scientific researchers who inhabited the island in the recent past. The survivors also encountered a freighter stationed off the island that some thought would lead to their rescue, but ultimately almost caused their extinction. And Jack, Kate, Hurley, Sayid, Sun and Claire’s son, Aaron — known as the Oceanic 6 – actually escaped the island and made their way back into the world. But their stay turned out to be short-lived since the island wasn’t through with them, yet.
