5 Reasons to Use a Software Load Balancer

5 Reasons to Use a Software Load Balancer

Evolve your approach to Application Performance Monitoring by adopting five best practices that are outlined and explored in this e-book. brought to you in partnership with BMC .

Today, computer and internet usage is at an all-time high, and reliable performance is both necessary and critical for businesses of all sizes. To increase the speed of system loading, decrease downtime, and eliminate single points of failure, load balancing is the answer.Load balancers help provide the seamless experience that users desire. Well-designed infrastructure includes a good load balancer plan so that any potential failures are detected, requests are rerouted to redundant points, and users never notice any failures.

Until very recently, load balancing was heavily dependent on hardware; but that has all changed. With load balancing software, these tasks are done smoothly and automatically. In fact, there are a number of reasons to choose load balancing software.

1. Less Expensive

Deploying software is much less expensive than buying hardware every time a change is made. Replacing hardware with load balancing software is DevOps-friendly and eliminates the siloing between DevOps and the rest of the departments within a business. It puts application management squarely in the hands of those best able to handle it. Additionally, maintenance can be done anytime, anywhere.

2. Scalable

Software load balancing is a natural choice for achieving high availability that is sustainable as the business and infrastructure grow. Also, having at least two backend servers maintains high availability, with software load balancers ensuring that traffic is directed to the server that is more readily available.

3. Easier Maintenance

This is one of the main reasons a software load balancer is a better choice than a hardware-based application delivery controller (ADC). In fact, performance is often a serious issue with legacy ADCs. Load balancing software can run anywhere, and any upgrades or maintenance can be done from a variety of devices – PCs, tablets, or even smartphones.

4. Flexible

Migrating old, hardware-based infrastructure to cloud-based environments allows agile development and the ability to upgrade and refine features easily. Software load balancers can be deployed anywhere. They work easily in both cloud and virtual environments and have open APIs so they can be integrated with all the tools you already use. Simply download and configure the software – no expensive hardware required.

5. Faster

Nobody likes features that are buggy or underperform. We expect things to work right the first time and every time after that. In our increasingly digital world, we want instant responses and fast load times. Software load balancers will run fast in any environment. There are no hardware configuration limitations and you can scale infrastructure to the size you need. Load balancing software gives you the power to manage delivery effectively for optimal performance.

Software load balancing use is growing rapidly, and it will continue to grow and be refined further as time goes by. We are already seeing huge organizations use load balancing software, with the Amazon load balancer, Elastic Load Balancing (ELB), one of the most popular examples.

The 10 Best Mobile Games of 2013

The 10 Best Mobile Games of 2013

1. Plants vs Zombies 2

PopCap took a few years to release its follow-up to the hugely popular Plants vs Zombies. but the sequel is well worth the wait. Plants vs Zombies 2 builds on the original’s ideas in delightful ways, with new plants, new foes and new challenges across three different time periods. It’s a natural and highly addictive addition to the franchise.

  • 2. Cut the Rope: Time Travel

Another sequel, another time-bending adventure! Cut the Rope: Time Travel follows the adorable critter Om Nom in his quest to eat candy and make friends through the ages. From the Middle Ages to the Disco Era, you’ll face new physics challenges to getting your character fed.

  • 3. Strata

This game involves layering ribbons into different patterns. Sounds simple enough, but Strata is actually a delightful blend of spacial challenges, soothing music and peaceful visuals. It’s a relaxing and zen take on a puzzle game.

  • 4. Sorcery!

No matter the platform, game creators emphasize storytelling: a strong plot is just as important as great graphics or compelling combat. This app by UK game designer Steve Jackson reinvents the tried and true days of Dungeons Dragons. for the mobile age. Sorcery! takes the player through a fantasy choose-your-own-adventure of fighting evil monsters and exploring strange lands.

  • 5. DEVICE 6

This game gives a puzzle bent to an innovative story. DEVICE 6 is a text-heavy game that makes brilliant use of the smartphone and tablet as an interface. You’ll be turning your device and swiping your way through complex puzzles, accompanied by an amazing sound design. Think of it as an interactive, mind-bending mystery novel.

  • 6. Star Command

Form allegiances with different alien races and complete your quests across galaxies known and unknown, all while protecting Earth from traitors. Complete with goofy writing and plenty of Star Wars jokes, Star Command is a great game for the geeky set. Start on Easy to get acquainted with the gameplay, but all the other difficulty levels will offer a real challenge.

  • 7. rymdkapsel

Where the zany Star Command lets you specialize and level up your ship and individual crew members, rymdkapsel encourages more thoughtful planning and strategy for a similar end. This game is more about managing your resources to build a space station, using efficiency to beat out wave after wave of alien attacks. With a minimal design and immersive music, rymdkapsel offers a unique approach to a classic game style.

  • 8. Deus Ex: The Fall

The Deus Ex franchise has attracted many fans for its stealth-meets-RPG gameplay, and this iOS game shows just how much is possible on a mobile platform. With graphics to rival those on a console, Deus Ex: The Fall takes you back into a dystopian world of human augmentation, shady goings-on and moral dilemmas. Sleuth out the truth however you can in this pint-sized powerhouse.

  • 9. Heads Up

One of the most exciting trends in mobile games is when developers find creative ways to use a smartphone’s built-in features. Heads Up makes excellent use of your device’s motion-sensing abilities to create a party game in the vein of Taboo. Plus, Ellen DeGeneres is involved, so you know it’s got to be good.

  • 10. Ridiculous Fishing

The name says it all. This is a game about fishing, and it’s pretty darn ridiculous. In Ridiculous Fishing . you’ll cast a line, move your device to maneuver it as deep into the water as possible, then toss your catch into the air and shoot them all up. Weird? Yep, but totally addictive. The more fish you catch, the more kooky power-ups you can buy for bigger, badder fish destruction.

As mobile hardware and game developers push the limits of technology for entertainment, more thrilling games feature experiences as fun as PC or console titles. This year was no exception. Dozens of excellent releases hit app stores in 2013.

This list doesn’t include remakes of games first released on other platforms. Although many are worth your time (think XCOM or Limbo ), we wanted to recognize the best in titles specifically designed for mobile play, since the platform presents a unique set of challenges for game creators.

In no particular order, here are the 10 best mobile games we played in 2013.

Quadro vs gtx ( Solidworks )

Well, I have come to this forum to find solutions to my quite tricky problem. I do want to buy a laptop for doing CAD, video editing and gaming but mainly Cad. I have previously worked on 3ds max and now would like to try solidworks but I don’t know how much intensive application its going to be. So I have to choose between gtx or a quadro laptop, preferably gtx 970m and gtx 980m. As I am not a professional I would not like to go for the costly quadro laptops and honestly, those laptops are bulky and look boring.

There are almost no benchmarks comparing these graphics cards so all help would be appreciated and I will answer any questions for you to help me answer the question.

More about : quadro gtx solidworks

And yes, Quadro are really working faster – I have suffered form the illusion that “GeForce as as good” untill I replaced the Quadro in my work computer with my “glorious” GeForce and it became a snail.

    • NVIDIA GeForce GTX-485M vs. NVIDIA Quadro 4000M/5000M, which better – Forum

    Can’t find your answer ? Ask !

And yes, Quadro are really working faster – I have suffered form the illusion that “GeForce as as good” untill I replaced the Quadro in my work computer with my “glorious” GeForce and it became a snail.

But the Quadro’s don’t really work for gaming.

Besides my workhorse Dell T3500 with a 6/12 core Xeon and 24GB or RAM, I have bought (at different times) 5 different generations of Dell Latitude with nvidia Quadro cards and never had an issue with them – for example Dell M4400 with a quad T9900, Dell E6420 with a i7-2760QM. I see often on forums complains from gaming laptop users used in pro apps.

    Hierarchical subdivision surfaces

    Active stereoscopic cameras

Although not the maya but then I am not looking for good final renders.

Selecting a quadro would mean compromising mobility and shelling out more money .

It all comes down to precision visual output/representation. Don’t get into defining rendering.

Architecture and instruction(driver) power the price and performance of a Quadro.

They are the best for CAD, period. Why ask why? A true CAD guy doesn’t care about cores and

He wants to see the complex arc/shape he just created with no stilts. And then he needs to rotate it.

You want to work with .01mm, then buy a Quadro.

Let me tell you this in the big companies they are using quadro cards for modeling but when it came to render they have their own rendering Farm and about your question about gaming also here I tried both in my rig and no need to talk so much as of course the winner is gtx with more than 60%

So my friend go to gtx and don’t get confused by what people say

If this is done for work then I would get a quadrino card. If this is for learning or doing personal projects then a gtx card can be used.
