Why is it that since the Joann coupon layout has changed, Joann coupons cannot be printed from a pc and can only be saved to a wallet associated with a cell phone. I do not have a cell phone, and if I did, would not want to be using it for coupons.

If anyone knows how the coupons can be printed online with a computer, please share the process. Thank you.

Just wanted to throw it out there that Joanns will take several coupons at once however, they must be different coupons to be used at the same time. You can use the others if they are duplicates but they cannot be in one transaction.

Example- you have 5 copies of the same coupon, they will accept but will do 5 different transactions! It s as a courtesy because even the coupons say, reproductions not accepted but we do anyway! PS I work there, just sharing some insight- remember it s not the cashiers fault, we re just following procedure.

Also, it s one coupon per item. It won t take 20% off an item you took 40% off. The % off transaction coupons apply to sale and regular priced items, will not take off anything you used a coupon for.
We ll also accept competitors coupons BUT only on items both stores carry.

Michaels accepts Joann coupons and vice versa. One thing I have noticed is that whenever Michaels has 25% off your entire purchase coupon (regular and sale prices), Michaels rarely has anything on sale! So basically you end up getting only 25% off regular price. So I take those 25% off Michaels coupons to Joann s instead where I can get that extra discount on their already on sale items.

The Shoe Retail Industry

The shoe retail is a mature and highly competitive industry, composed of large multinational chains to small local businesses. According to the Annual Retail Trade Survey conducted by the Bureau of Census, shoe retail trade registered sales of 28.066 billion in 2011 in the United States, growing at an average rate of 2.23% since 1993. The shoe retailing industry accounts for 0.61% of total retail sales in 2011.

While there will always be demand for shoes, the success of a shoe retail store depends on how well it copes with dictates of fashion, demographics, and ever-changing tastes of shoe buyers. The shoe retail industry is segmented across the following product lines (source: IBIS World):

  • Athletic Shoes 41.5
  • Women s Shoes 24.2
  • Men s Shoes 19.3
  • Children s Shoes 15.0

Athletic shoes account for the biggest market share in shoe retail, with basketball and cross training are the most popular category in this segment. Both the men and women s market segments are growing. Price-wise, however, men s shoes are more expensive than women s shoes. There are also a number of niche product categories and novelty designs.

Level of Competition

Competition in the industry is strong. There are a number of established players in the shoe industry with established market positions, brands and reputations. A mall often houses several shoe stores, mostly the major players. Major players in this industry have numerous retail outlets throughout the US, while smaller players are generally independently owned and operated in one or two locations.

The competition also comes from the department store with well-appointed shoe departments; discount shoe stores and outlets, as well as general merchandise discounters such as Wal-Mart and K-mart. Changes in Disposable Income

Income dictates the choice and frequency of purchase of shoes. A family with increasing incomes may find itself having more money available for the purchase of shoes. A family with shrinking income, however, may find shoe purchase at the bottom of their priority.
For a high-income area, you can expect a strong demand for brand names, particularly high-end types of shoes. Low-income areas are more likely to be price-conscious: your customers will demand good quality shoes for lower prices.

Weather is a major determinant in the selection and choices of shoes. Sandals and thongs see a surge in popularity during the hot summer months, while boots are in great demand during the colder months. Your inventory needs to take into account the seasons in buying your inventory.

Fashion dictates what sells for shoes. The fashion runways exert heavy influence on what will be seen on the shelves of shoe stores. Shoppers Still Prefer In-Store Over Online Shopping

Although online shopping may be more convenient, shoppers still prefer to make their purchases inside an actual store, new research finds.

Nearly 40 percent of consumers make purchases inside a physical store at least once a week, compared to just 27 percent who do the same online, according to PwC s annual consumer survey.

Even though online shopping may be easier than going to a store, many different factors are driving shoppers decisions to make the trek out to a store. The research found that 65 percent of consumers said they shop in-store to avoid delivery fees, while more than 60 percent said it allows them to have the item immediately. Additionally, 61 percent said they like trying on the item or seeing it in person before buying it.

Other reasons shoppers prefer brick-and-mortar shopping include that they like to support local businesses and it makes returns easier. Despite their preference for buying things in-store, consumers are still using online outlets as part of their shopping process. Nearly three-quarters of those surveyed spend time browsing products online before buying them at a physical store.

For the past several years, the story around retail stores was showrooming, in which stores were places to display items for online purchase, Steven Barr, PwC U.S. retail and consumer practice leader, said in a statement. However, this year s survey results reveal that the online shop has also become a showroom where shoppers research and compare prices for later, in-store purchases.

While many retailers are beefing up their mobile shopping efforts, it remains more of an instrument to get to the point of buying a product, rather than a tool for the actual purchase, according to the study. About half of those surveyed in the U.S. have researched products on their mobile phones, while nearly the same percentage have used them for price comparisons. Overall, less than 10 percent of those surveyed make purchases via mobile devices on a weekly basis.

Security issues top the reasons why consumers are hesitant to shop on their smartphones or tablets. One-third of the U.S. consumers surveyed said they do not use their smartphones or tablets for shopping due to security concerns, while 77 percent said they are wary about having their credit card information hacked.

Social media is also playing an increasingly important role in the shopping process for consumers. Even though only 4 percent of U.S. consumers have purchased items via social media, 36 percent said their interactions with brands on social media has led them to buy more from these brands.

Barr said that integrating technology, along with the power to engage on social media, has enhanced the consumer experience.

As these disruptions continue to influence the shoppers purchase journey, the retail store will likely become an experiential venue for both online and non-online purchases, Barr said. From in-store design studios and personal shopping assistants, to coffee and tea ateliers, retailers are offering a comprehensive experience, evolving into something sleeker, more customized and increasingly attuned to shoppers expectations of what the in-store experience should be.

In order to keep shoppers coming back, brick-and-mortar stores will need to become more tailored to the digital age, the study s authors noted.

Consumers are seeking retail experiences over simple purchase transactions, which is inspiring landlords and retailers to collaborate on making the destination more enjoyable, convenient and memorable, said Byron Carlock, PwC s U.S. real estate practice leader. For the physical store to remain relevant today, retailers should adapt to consumer preferences.

The study was based on surveys of more than 19,000 consumers around the world.

    Changing dynamics

    Over the past few years, consumer electronics retailers including Best Buy, RadioShack (RSH ), and hhgregg, Inc. (HGG ) have faced several challenges. These companies have been hit by the emergence of online retailers like Amazon. Also, difficult economic conditions in the broader market have had more of an impact on consumer discretionary products like electronics. As well, these companies have been facing price wars from big-box or large-store discounters such as Wal-Mart and Target.

    Circuit City, one of Best Buy’s closest competitors, filed for bankruptcy in November 2008 and was permanently shut down in March 2009. RadioShack is on the verge of bankruptcy now. Best Buy too went through a pretty rough phase but managed to survive under the strong leadership of Hubert Joly.

Neither the black nor the burgundy have the inside made of leather. For this price, you would expect something better than expensive plastic. Overall I like the burgundy enough to put up with the above, but am returning the black.

    It’s not difficult to see what JB Hi-Fi sees in The Good Guys. The retailer has built an unrivalled reputation for quality customer service and great value for money. We can say this because, this year, The Good Guys has topped our customer satisfaction ratings for electronics retailers for the SIXTH year in a row. This makes it the most successful brand in the history of Canstar Blue’s consumer reviews. Congratulations, guys!

    Like in previous years, The Good Guys received five-star ratings from customers in all research categories, including range of products, point of sale service and value for money. This year’s ratings are based on the feedback of almost 2,000 Australian adults who have visited and made a purchase from an electronics store in the last six months. Bing Lee and JB Hi-Fi both received four-star ratings from customers for overall satisfaction, while Harvey Norman achieved three stars.

    While this survey looked at the physical store offerings of these retailers, we also took the opportunity to find out how consumers rate their respective websites, if they’ve used them. Again, The Good Guys was the only one to score top marks in this area.

    Know your customers

    In a world where most of the gadgets and appliances you want will also be available to buy online, it’s crucial for the retailers to offer a service that keeps you coming back to their physical stores. Are you just looking for the cheapest prices, or are you more concerned about receiving expert advice on the products you’re considering? This will likely depend on what you’re buying, but as a general guide, our survey identified the following drivers of satisfaction when consumers head in store.

    • Point of sale service: 27%
    • Value for money: 20%
    • Price compared to other retailers: 18%
    • Range of products on offer: 13%
    • Layout of store: 13%

    The importance of quality customer service can never be underestimated and as consumers, you have every right to expect the best. Chances are you will remember great service for longer than you remember how much you paid for an item. That being said, don’t be afraid to take your money elsewhere if another store sells what you want at a lower price. If you can, head into a store armed with price details and ask that retailer to match the lowest price you have found elsewhere.

    Shopping frustrations

    Just like visiting a supermarket. heading to an electronics retailer is not without its frustrations, particularly when it’s busy. We asked our survey respondents to tell us about their in-store gripes. We found that a lack of sales staff is the most common complaint.

    • Lack of sales staff to assist: 30%
    • Not having the items wanted: 23%
    • Lack of knowledge from sales staff: 17%
    • The store being overcrowded: 13%
    • Long queues at the checkouts: 11%
    • Other frustrations: 6%

    The main ‘other frustrations’ included pushy sales staff, grumpy staff and loud music being played.

    The results varied slightly between the major retailers, with customers at JB Hi-Fi most likely to complain about stores being overcrowded (22%) and long queues at the checkout (12%), while shoppers at Harvey Norman are most likely to complain about a lack of sales staff (33%), the survey found.

    Bing Lee customers are most likely to complain about not having the items wanted (34%) and a lack of knowledge of sales staff (21%).

    No one store will ever be perfect, but it’s important the retailers get as many of these factors right as often as they possibly can. Most people will be able to accept that stores can get very busy and they may need to wait a while to be served, but it’s when these issues become the norm rather than the exception that they will take their money elsewhere – and rightly so.

    The next time you head into a store, remember that it’s the job of the sales staff to keep you happy, so don’t be put off asking for assistance, no matter how busy it is.
